Thank You, Jono
“I changed companies to escape one person.”
That was roughly the first line of a post from Jono Herrington. I saw it after replying to a LinkedIn message while waiting in a line somewhere—probably because someone I followed had reposted it or commented on it. We do not know each other, and I was not following him. It got me.
I had never really been drawn to LinkedIn. Too many posts are trying to hook you into something, sell you on a company’s kindness, or show off skills in the hunt for a new job.
Jono was doing none of that. He was not selling anything, showing off what he had learned, or asking for referrals. He was sharing something that felt like the continuation of a conversation.
Then I read the next post, and the next, and the next. I loved it.
He is not the only person writing that way. Once I spent more time there, I found others with the same voice.
I had always wanted to write. I just had not found the audience, or the format, that felt like me.
I stole the format from Jono.
So thank you, Jono.
